Bergamot & Bay Aftershave Splash in (Ultima )

Those who knew me before I went into business know I was just as passionate about hobby as you all are. One of my absolute favorite soaps was from Cold River Soap Works. I was amazed by how wonderfully different Larry’s soap base was. It was so rich and creamy, with an incredible post-shave feel. It was a game changer for me. All of his soaps were great, but the one that really stood out was his Bergamot & Bay. This soap hit me hard—like seeing the most beautiful woman in the world and having her whisper, "I want you," in your ear. I was weak-kneed and speechless.

I used to communicate with Larry back in the day, but we lost touch over the years. On a whim, I decided to go through our old correspondence. Eureka! I found his number. I had the idea of reimagining his soap in the CRSW style as a tribute. I wanted to give him a call, hoping he was still alive and well, and at the same location. Out of respect, I wanted to get his permission prior to embarking on this journey.

After a few minutes of encouragement from my daughter, Thalia, I finally built up the courage to call. An elderly woman answered, and I introduced myself and asked for Larry. She seemed a bit hesitant until I mentioned my name again and mentioned that we were old friends from the wet shaving days. Larry picked up the phone immediately. He was clearly surprised but gracious and appreciative that I had reached out.

I explained my idea and told him I wouldn’t move forward unless he was comfortable with it. He couldn’t understand why I would want to do this, but I think some of you can relate. To me, CRSW was a rock star. When I decided to create my own soap, it was Larry’s soap base that inspired me the most. It’s why my very first soap included tallow, lanolin, kokum butter, and shea.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I’m incredibly honored to bring you Bergamot & Bay in our Ultima 2 base. It’s truly a dream come true.
